Review & Giveaway: Unbroken: Path to Healing and Redemption

Unbroken: Path to Redemption

Unbroken:  Path to Redemption is IN THEATERS OCTOBER 5, 2018.  This movie is based on Laura Hillenbrand’s bestselling book, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION.  It begins where the hit movie Unbroken concludes.  This movie is continuing the unbelievable true story of Olympian and World War II hero Louis Zamperini.

SYNOPSIS:

After surviving a plane crash, weeks of floating on a makeshift raft in the Pacific, and then years of torture as a prisoner of war, Louis Zamperini finally returns home to California, seemingly unbroken.

When the war ended, his battle began.

Because he was haunted by nightmares of his torment, Louie sees himself as anything but a hero. Despite battling demons, anger, and alcohol, Louie feels obligated to participate in an Army tour to raise money for War Bonds. But as he focuses more on hotel bars than his public appearances, Louie is ordered to take R&R on the beaches of Miami. There, he meets Cynthia, a young woman who captures his eye — and his heart. After a whirlwind courtship, the couple weds and moves to Los Angeles.  While pursuing every avenue of hope he can find — from trying to reestablish himself as a world-class runner to get-rich-quick investment opportunities — Louie’s wrathful quest for revenge drives him deeper into despair…and the bottle.

Even more, he was hopeless and on the brink of divorce, Cynthia experiences Billy Graham’s 1949 Los Angeles Crusade where she finds faith in God and a renewed commitment to her marriage and her husband. Now, her most fervent prayer is for God to help Louie find the peace and forgiveness he so desperately needs.

This Fall

UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION brings to life the rest of Louis Zamperini’s powerful real-life story.  This story is about forgiveness, redemption, and amazing grace.

This movie is from the producer of Unbroken and the writer of A River Runs Through It.

Starring

  • Samuel Hunt
  • Merritt Patterson
  • David Sakurai
  • Will Graham (as his grandfather, Billy Graham)

Review & Giveaway: Tori Kelly CD: Hiding Places

Tori Kelly CD Giveaway

Tori Kelly CD giveaway is a new CD, by Tori Kelly, called Hiding Places.  This CD is up for grabs. This L.A.-based singer/songwriter honors her deepest musical passion and delivers an R&B infused, infectiously melodic take on a classic gospel album. She has teamed up with Kirk Franklin on this one, and the first single features him.

Tori Kelly was the 2016 Grammy Award nominee for Best New Artist.

I love new music, but it is rare that I can listen to it before Big Daddy grabs it from the mailbox.  He is a music lover.  He travels, often, for his job, so listening to uplifting songs makes his traveling more bearable.

This CD fits right into his wheelhouse!

Free E-Book: Goggles for Gratefulness

Who DOES NOT want their child(ren) to be grateful?

Not me.

We want to teach our children the beauty of being grateful, from the smallest moment to the hardest moment.

See, it says in Scripture “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thess 5:18.

Gratefulness is being thankful for those things….even when they are bad things.  When a child can see their parent be grateful, then they will learn to be grateful.

These are character traits that we must have, as a believer, in Christ.

Having a relationship with Jesus is not a walk in the park.  It is hard.  We are faced day in and day out with trials and tribulations.

In knowing Him, though, we will have peace in those hard situations.  We can still have joy, in those situations.

Gratefulness.

What a beautiful word.

Paul, Apostle of Christ Review

Image result

PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST is the story of two men. Luke, as a friend and physician, risks his life when he ventures into the city of Rome to visit Paul, who is held captive in Nero’s darkest, bleakest prison cell. But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians, and does not flinch from executing them in the grisliest ways possible. Before Paul’s death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of “The Way” and the birth of what will come to be known as the church.

Bound in chains, Paul’s struggle is internal. He has survived so much—floggings, shipwreck, starvation, stoning, hunger and thirst, cold and exposure—yet as he waits for his appointment with death, he is haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds. Alone in the dark, he wonders if he has been forgotten . . . and if he has the strength to finish well.

Two men struggle against a determined emperor and the frailties of the human spirit in order to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ and spread their message to the world.

——————————————————————————–
I have been excited about this movie since I saw the trailer.  Jim Caviezel is one of my favorite actors.  It is not because he played Jesus in the Passion of the Christ (though WHOA wasn’t that a movie…..that part where he is a little boy, running through the alleys and he falls and hurts himself…then you see Mary yell “Yeshua” and run to Him to comfort Him….oh, my mama heart strings).  Honestly, it is because of his strong faith in Jesus, and the fact that he has adopted three children, from China, and they all had a form of cancer.  Adoption is so incredibly close to my heart, especially, special needs adoption.  I’m also a fan of his films 🙂
Anywho, this will be a great addition, once it comes out, to add to our movie collection.  We are slowly moving away from secular films into films that are uplifting, Biblical, and wholesome for our whole family to watch.
I encourage you all to get out there and see this film!  You won’t regret it!
