Backtracking

I had to get 2 wisdom teeth pulled out the other day.  For some reason, I have a horrible fear of the dentist.  Today was no different.  Luckily, I went in praying and having people pray for me.  I slathered on my “Joy” blend of essential oil.  Frankly, I smelled the joint up.

As the dentist came in, he was sporting a tie-dyed scrub cap and his eyes were smiling.  I quickly informed him that I would rather be getting a pap smear or birthing a child without drugs than be in this chair.

He laughed.  I didn’t.  Honestly, I was dead serious.  As he was numbing my mouth, I closed my eyes and begin wringing my feet the way some people wring their hands.  I had already kicked my shoes off because barefoot is the way I am 98% of my time.

Luckily, I felt NOTHING.  I actually did feel something, but as soon as I said “I feel that,” he stopped and numbed me up more.  It took 5 minutes and I was done.  I left that office on cloud nine and drooling.

Then the numbing medicine wore off and it hurt.  One tooth hurt, the other didn’t but it was no fun.  I came home, took my meds, and went home.  My friend was here, watching the kids and she gave me the go-ahead to just go upstairs.  I did just that.

The Next Day

Sadly, I wasn’t much better.  My jaw ached so badly.  I had a migraine and life just was not being sweet to me.  So thankful that my #2 kid was here to handle the kids and they just let me sleep.

Big Daddy handled supper and the kids did their chores.  If something went wrong, no one told me.  They all just handled it like a boss.  One thing I can say about pain meds is that I know that I would be hard pressed to be an addict.

Now, I do have an addictive personality but pain meds make me A) meaner than a snake B) they don’t really help C) they make my stomach hurt D) I can’t sleep E) I cry…over anything and everything.

Those are not good combinations.

Doing My Thing

I was on edge.  Probably more than I should be because I just simply didn’t feel well.  To take my mind off of my face, I decided to serve another family.  One thing I love to do is cook.  I love to cook for others and be the hands and feet of Jesus during times where someone may not feel like cooking.

A young couple at church just welcomed their fourth blessing.  Now, I didn’t know this family, but they are new to the church and community.  I wanted to serve them, so I did.  There was a plan and I executed it.  However, I did have Big Daddy drive me because I wanted the company and someone to carry the food.

It was a blessed moment to see this sweet family.

On the Way Home

This family lived close to where Big Daddy and I lived for 12 years.  We drove backroads and then decided to go and drive by our old house.  We reveled at the changes in the area, yet the sameness that we remember.  Many of our “neighbors” have moved on, but the core people were still there.

In getting back to our house, we had to travel a road that I did not enjoy traveling.  On one hand, I had a friend that lived close, but she had recently moved.  On the other hand, I had lost a friend on that road due to the choice of suicide.
As we drew closer to these 2 homes, that are extremely close together, I began having flashes.  There were flashes, images, words, thoughts, feelings…all encompassing my brain and body.  I could feel myself getting warm and I knew that I was fixing to jump in the great abyss.

Going Down the Hole

For the next day and several days after that, I could not function.  I did not get out of bed much.  My husband found me sitting on my closet floor, having a breakdown.  I simply could not get some things out of my mind.  Then, the “What If” syndrome started.  I know that I scare him when I get like that, but I could not stop the flood that was coming.

He would come to sit on the bed, hug me and ask me what he could do to help.  I just would say that I didn’t know.  Nothing could erase those things and I was not okay.  It has been almost a year since that happened.

A Sweet Release

On that following Sunday night, after days of struggling, I finally made a phone call.  I called my friend’s mom.  She is struggling and I cannot imagine the day in and day out of what all she goes through.  Her mind, her heart, her emotions…yet I called.  I thought I could keep it together.

Then, she said “hello.”

Once she said “hello,” I was done.  I know I scared her because I could not form a word.  My cry was so guttural and animalistic.  She kept asking me what was wrong and all I could say is I can’t get her eyes out of my head.

We cried together.  Mainly, she just listened to me cry.  She said that I have never mourned this loss.  I went straight into “how can I help” mode.  A year later, I am mourning and I am mourning hard.

What Makes Me Smile

She asked me a question.  “What memories do you have about LA that makes you smile?”  Through my tears, I said “bats and boxed hair dye.”  At that moment, my friend BURST out laughing through her tears.  I started laughing and I recounted the story of the night she tried to drown me while coloring my hair.  How Big Daddy told her she could NEVER come over and color my hair again (this happened often).  Then, as she was leaving my house, at midnight, the bats dive-bombed her hair.

We were chatting under the security light.  She had bleach blonde hair.  The bats came swooping out of no where.  It was the funniest scene in the history of ever.  Her screaming swatting bats and my doubled over laughing with maroon hair.

The Next Day

I ordered a small stuffed bat.  When it came in, I put it in my curio cabinet.  Around its neck, I have the necklace that my friend had made for me.  I have wrapped that necklace around the bats neck. This simple act creates calmness in me and peace.  I will miss her everyday, but I know that she knows Jesus because I was there when she asked Him into her heart.  She is with Him and one day I will see her again.

My Best Friend Forever is DigestZen

My Best Friend Forever is DigestZen.  It is the jam in my jelly roll.  The cheese to my cracker.  It is the be all and end all of my essential oils.  To add to its greatness, it comes in 3 different forms!

Everybody say HEY!

*Echo* HEY!

My Best Friend Forever is DigestZen

Like my yellow bowl? It has the BEST Loaded Dip in it and I’m snacking away! Recipe can be found on my blog.

Fun Factoid

I thought, moons ago when I first started in the oily life, that applying oils “neat” was the way to go.  You could get better results, so to speak.  Then, I used Oregano neat and burned the crap out of myself (it is a “hot” oil and not all oils are “hot”).  I thought diluting oils would weaken the oil itself and that I would have to use a ton to get the benefits.

#WRONG

Using an oil “neat” is all well and good BUT using it diluted is BETTER.  When you drop oil on your hand, it stays and absorbs in that spot.  Yes, you can rub it and let it extend a bit, but overall, it absorbs in that area.

When you dilute it, it has the same amazing benefits but it spreads to larger areas of your body.  Instead of it just helping your toe (neat), it can go (quite well) over your entire foot.  Just using that as an example.

General Rule

In a 10 ml roller bottle (pictured to the far left above), you would put 15 drops of your favorite oil or combination of oils.  Then, you would top off with a carrier oil.  Carrier oils can be olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, etc.) Shake and then roll on wherever you need it.

The foot is the best place to put any oils.  Down the spine or on the neck are good places too.  Temples for headaches…you get the picture.  I didn’t realize that.  Sadly, I would hoard and not use the oils I had because I didn’t want to run out.  Now, I know better.

Free Oils

By SIGNING UP to become a wholesale customer or a wellness advocate, you have the ability to have a monthly LRP order.  This order needs to be 125 PV (point value).  When you reach that PV, you AUTOMATICALLY get the free oil of the month.  If you place a 200 PV, then you get another incentive that ranges from oils to diffusers to rubs.

Also, monthly, there is usually a product that is featured (for April 2019) it is TriEase and that is 10% off.  Each oil that you purchase has a PV attached to it.  On the 15th of every month, you will be able to use these points to “buy” oils.  The trick to that is that you buy something inexpensive (there are DoTerra items that are like $6).  Then, you can use up all your points on whatever you want to use them for.

Building Up Stock

That is how I built up my stock.  By placing orders (my personal orders and then orders from other people) to reach 200 PV and getting the free oil of the month and then the free incentive.  Then, on the 15th of the month, I use my points to buy oils or stockpile my favorite oils.

By becoming a wholesale customer, you automatically save 25% off of all retail costs.  There is a $35 one time fee and then yearly, that fee moves to $25.  To avoid those fees, you can become an advocate (you don’t necessarily have to sell but it sort of just happens).  Either way…it is a good thing.

Allergy Alternative

Allergy Alternative

Here is another all natural Allergy Alternative.  This is one that I use, daily, as well.  I use these oils (I will share the recipe further on down the post) in a roller bottle.  By doing that, I can carry it with me, at all times.

Allergy Alternative

Another Lineup in my Allergy Defense

The TriEase is a softgel that consists of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint. I take this daily instead of an OTC allergy med that makes me tired.  Actually, OTC allergy meds do not make me tired (though they do for most people).  In all honesty, they make me meaner than a snake :/  Benadryl makes me downright hateful.  Sadly, that is hereditary. It does the same thing to my mom and most of my kids.

In my 10 ml roller bottle (not pictured), I add 3 drops of each of those oils.  Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint, Breathe, and Eucalyptus.  Now, none of these oils are hot, so they do not necessarily need to be diluted.  I use this roller to roll under my nose and on my wrists.  Also, I wear it on a diffusing necklace, as well, when I go out.

Another Secret

I take a tissue, I fold it in half (longwise) and then I fold it in half again.  I use this roller to rub on the tissue, on both sides.  By doing this, I can just hold up the tissue to my nose and it dries it up.  I keep a tissue by my bed and in my Bible for church.  So, if you see me out and about waving a tissue around my face, you know that it is allergy season.

Diffuse

I diffuse this blend, as well.  Now, if you buy a kit, a lot of time the kit comes with the kit you choose.  You get HUGE savings when you buy a kit  PLUS you get a lot of the basic, essential, if that’s all you ever buy oils that’s okay because these oils cover everything.  (Did you like my long run on sentence LOL?)

The Home Essentials Kit is the one that I have bought, twice LOL.  It has Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Melaleuca, Oregano, Peppermint, Breathe, Digestzen (seriously awesome), OnGuard, and Deep Blue.  As well as, the petal diffuser and a booklet  This cost is $275.

Breakdown of Costs (Retail)..all are 15 ml bottles except Deep Blue

Frank:  90.67

Lemon: 14.67

Lavender: 30.67

Deep Blue (5 ml):  44

DigestZen:  44

Melaleuca:  28

Oregano:  29.33

Peppermint:  29.33

Breathe:  29.33

OnGuard:  45.33

Petal Diffuser:  62.66

That total is $447.99

So, you are saving $172.99!  Pretty cool.  So many more benefits including free oils monthly with and LRP order and more.  If you are interested or have questions, please head over to my DoTerra Website or email thebarefoothomeschooler@gmail.com

Confession

DoTerra does have diffusers that you can buy and they are nice. *Cue I’m not a good person to sell things moment.* However, Amazon sells great HUGE diffusers at a fraction of the cost.  Unless you are buying a kit, head over there to buy a diffuser.  Then, you can head over to my site and get the individual oils you need.

Taking the Snot Out of Allergy Season

Taking the Snot Out of Allergy Season.  The flowers and trees are blooming!  I LOVE spring.  The newness of rebirth and color flashing across the trees…it warms my heart.

However, Spring Does NOT Love Me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been plagued with severe allergies.  I am allergic to all the things.  If the Lord created it, I sneeze to it.  My mom had me do allergy shots for years, in hopes that I would have some relief.

Due to Insurance Reasons

I had to stop getting the shots for a long time.  Luckily, as an adult, I (along with most of my children) was able to start them back up for a while.  It really didn’t help too much.  I was reduced to using nasal sprays, eye drops, OTC allergy meds, prescribed allergy meds, shots, and lots of tissues.

I was Miserable with Copious Snot

Sadly, I have learned to just deal with it.  Spring and fall are the worst parts of the year for my face.  Ironically, those are still my 2 favorite seasons because of the sheer beauty that surrounds me.  So much snot.  I can’t even. Eventually, I was going to bottle and sell my snot in order to pay for my tissues.

Enter My Game Changer:  Breathe, Lavender, Purify, Roman Chamomile, and Zendocrine

Taking the Snot Out of Allergy Season

Now, let’s bear in mind that this works FOR ME!  I have done away with all prescription meds, OTC, nasal sprays, and eye drops.  It is simple:  I no longer need them.  I will post in a couple of days my day to day, carry with me, allergy relief.  I use these oils and I diffuse them.

Once they get going and it permeates the air, my nose stops running.  My mouth and eyes stop itching.  I use 3 drops of each for my smaller diffusers and I use 4 drops of each in my big diffusers.

Breakdown of Costs

I do not run this every day!  On the days when I realize that I’m going through a box of tissues in an hour, I run them.  On the offseason, I do not use this at all.  The 15 ml bottles contain 250 drops.  The 5 ml bottle contains 85 drops.  So, if I did this daily (3 drops of each) and used the ENTIRE bottle of Roman Chamomile, that would give me 28 days straight.  I would still have 165 drops of each of other oils left, so there’s that 🙂

Breathe:  $22 is $.08 per drop, $0.24 per day

Lavender:  $23 is $.08 per drop, $0.24 per day

Purify:  $20 is $.07 per drop, $0.21 per day

Roman Chamomile:  $45 is $.54 per drop, $1.62 per day

Zendocrine:  $24 is $.10 per drop, $.30 per day

That total is $2.61 PER DAY of relief.  That is for a month.  It is natural and it works.  Remember, IF you just did this for the length of time it takes to empty the Roman Chamomile bottle, that is 28 days. You can buy your Roman Chamomile again (you will earn points if you become a customer or rep to earn this for free, eventually) and you would not have to buy your other oils again for 5 mths!

Here is a GREAT visual on Cost Per Drop.

How to Buy

By checking out this link >>>How To Buy Doterra, you can learn how to get these costs at the price that I have listed, which is wholesale costs.  You can become a wholesale customer or you can skip that $35 fee and become a DoTerra Rep (you do not necessarily have to sell anything).

The link above tells you how you can set up your LRP order to earn FREE oils every month.  By having an LRP or placing an order, you get “points” that can accrue to get even MORE FREE oils.

This month (April 2019), I received a FREE bottle of 5 ml Deep Blue ($33), 4 oz. Deep Blue Rub ($32), 10 ml Breathe Touch ($14), AND I had enough points to pay for my Roman Chamomile.  That’s a lot of free oils!

Taking the Snot Out of Allergy Season

I will be posting other things that I use for allergy relief in the next few days.  If you have any questions, you can email me at thebarefoothomeschooler@gmail.com.
