Psalm 41 & Proverbs 10

Psalm 41 & Proverbs 10

Psalm 41 & Proverbs 10

Here are my thoughts on Psalm 41 & Proverbs 10.  I hope that you pick up and read a little today.  It can very well change your life.

Psalm 41

Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
    The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
The Lord protects them
    and keeps them alive.
He gives them prosperity in the land
    and rescues them from their enemies.
The Lord nurses them when they are sick
    and restores them to health.

“O Lord,” I prayed, “have mercy on me.
Heal me, for I have sinned against you.”

Thoughts

Oh, how I have prayed verse 4 over and over and over.  I have prayed this over Hunter.  There are many things the Lord is dealing with me on, lately.  These verses have just really affected me.  I’m anxious to see where He takes me.

Section 2

But my enemies say nothing but evil about me.
“How soon will he die and be forgotten?” they ask.
They visit me as if they were my friends,
but all the while they gather gossip,
and when they leave, they spread it everywhere.
All who hate me whisper about me,
imagining the worst.
“He has some fatal disease,” they say.
“He will never get out of that bed!”
Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely,
the one who shared my food, has turned against me.

Thoughts

Verse 9…I have lived that.  Sadly, I am still recovering from that “friend.”  What lies and deceit that has happened.  Yet, I still hold out hope.  This is another one to add to my list that I have totally not forgiven.  So KK, JH, PT…God is working on me to forgive you all.  Those compartments are being cleaned out.

Section 3

10 Lord, have mercy on me.
    Make me well again, so I can pay them back!
11 I know you are pleased with me,
    for you have not let my enemies triumph over me.
12 You have preserved my life because I am innocent;
    you have brought me into your presence forever.

13 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel,
who lives from everlasting to everlasting.
Amen and amen!

Proverbs 10

The proverbs of Solomon:

A wise child brings joy to a father;
a foolish child brings grief to a mother.

Tainted wealth has no lasting value,
but right living can save your life.

The Lord will not let the godly go hungry,
but he refuses to satisfy the craving of the wicked.

Lazy people are soon poor;
hard workers get rich.

A wise youth harvests in the summer,
but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.

Section 2

The godly are showered with blessings;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.

We have happy memories of the godly,
but the name of a wicked person rots away.

The wise are glad to be instructed,
but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.

People with integrity walk safely,
but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.

10 People who wink at wrong cause trouble,
but a bold reproof promotes peace.

11 The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.

12 Hatred stirs up quarrels,
but love makes up for all offenses.

Thoughts

Hatred…stirs up quarrels.  But love.  Love makes up for offenses.  May we all choose to love.

Section 3

13 Wise words come from the lips of people with understanding,
but those lacking sense will be beaten with a rod.

14 Wise people treasure knowledge,
but the babbling of a fool invites disaster.

15 The wealth of the rich is their fortress;
the poverty of the poor is their destruction.

16 The earnings of the godly enhance their lives,
but evil people squander their money on sin.

17 People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life,
but those who ignore correction will go astray.

Thoughts

Verse 17 sticks in my throat.  It is so hard to accept discipline.  Whether that discipline is from parent to child; God to people; teacher to student.  It is so hard.  Discipline is hard for the one DOING the discipline. Also, hard for the one receiving it.  Yet, it is the pathway to life.  I guess I would rather live then go astray.

Section 4

18 Hiding hatred makes you a liar;
slandering others makes you a fool.

19 Too much talk leads to sin.
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

20 The words of the godly are like sterling silver;
the heart of a fool is worthless.

21 The words of the godly encourage many,
but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.

Thoughts

Speech.  The tongue.  Too much chattering will lead to sin.  The tongue is powerful.  Words can cut and destroy so many people.  Be wise.  Say kind things.  If you see someone left out or hurting, approach them with love.

Section 5

22 The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.

23 Doing wrong is fun for a fool,
but living wisely brings pleasure to the sensible.

24 The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled;
the hopes of the godly will be granted.

25 When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away,
but the godly have a lasting foundation.

Thoughts

My life is all about verse 25.  I have had so many storms in my life.  With my marriage, children, family, finances, health, “church” people, friends…yet I’m being pressed.  Those who He deemed “wicked” were literally whirled away.  Thankful for my foundation.

Section 6

26 Lazy people irritate their employers,
like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes.

27 Fear of the Lord lengthens one’s life,
but the years of the wicked are cut short.

28 The hopes of the godly result in happiness,
but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.

29 The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity,
but it destroys the wicked.

30 The godly will never be disturbed,
but the wicked will be removed from the land.

31 The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice,
but the tongue that deceives will be cut off.

32 The lips of the godly speak helpful words,
but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.
