Day 7 Social Media Fast. I made it a week. One solid week. Today was the first day I blew out of the house for about 5 hrs and left my phone at home. I didn’t even miss it. We spent 4 hours at the eye doctor. Everyone had their yearly checkup and three of us had to get new glasses. Plus, we all chatted because our eye doctor and his wife are sweet friends of ours.
Once we left there, we stopped and grabbed lunch on the way home. It was almost 1 and I knew we had a busy afternoon. Got home and did our afternoon stuff. The kids got their schoolwork started. I worked on our grocery list for next week.
It’s an exciting day when you finally get the new clothes that you ordered. I ordered from Cents of Style. There were 2 sweaters in one order (I haven’t gotten that order yet). The second order had a cable knit cardigan, a pair of jegging type things, and another sweater. I ordered an XL because that is what I wear. Form-fitting clothes do not work for me. I like them baggie.
Excitement is the only word for how I was feeling. I rushed upstairs to try everything on. I pulled these items out of the bag and my first thought was “Oh hell no.” My 8 yr old niece could probably wear these pants. They would fit her perfectly. I squeezed all my bits and pieces in them, thinking they would stretch.
Finally, I called Alyssa upstairs. The look of fear splashed across her face when she saw the painted on pants. Now, add that to a sweater that hugs every single roll I own. It also made my boobs look a bit like torpedos. The cardigan looked like it belonged on a 5 foot tall 800 yr old grandmother.
She said, “well, you at least look like you have a butt.” Yes, well-meaning until I informed her that that was not my butt. It was my front fat roll that pushed through my body to form said butt.
Off We Go Again
Hunter and I left at 2:30 for him to go to horse therapy. It is about 45 minutes away. Thankfully, he napped on the way there because he was getting a bit frosty. We have had a good week, behavior wise, and I wanted to continue the streak.
While in Paducah, a friend needed to meet for some counseling. I’m so glad my sister (Hunter’s Mamaw) was able to watch him at the horse barn. As an added bonus, she watched him for a couple of hours afterward. She even fixed him supper. We had a great little visit once I got there.
When I got home, Big Daddy was home and had picked up a few things at the store. It was too late for me to go to the grocery. The weather was rainy and cold. The idea of getting a 4 yr old out and grocery shop, at night, is like a little slice of hell. No thank you.
Once home, the kids did their chores and I retreated to my cold bedroom cause our heat is jacked up. That is probably the most frustrating thing that happened today. I had zero desire to get on social media. Zero. I’d say I’m over the hump and I’m proud that I have lasted a full week.
