Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles

Parenting:  14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family

Anyone who thinks parenting is hard, raise your hands!!!!  There is not one person, on the face of the planet that will tell you…the bliss when you decide to start a family…..the coolness (mostly) of being pregnant….the holding that fresh new life….will become a constant battlefield that places in your mind until the Lord calls you home.  No one tells you that.

Here I am, telling you that!  I have 7 kids, you would think I would have figured it out or I was trying my best for a “do over” in the parenting department.  Parenting is tough.  The early years are wrought with sleep deprivation, vomit, and projectile poop.  The toddler years are strictly survival mode. The teenage years is like nailing jello to a wall and the young adult years…..oh, that just hurts your heart.

The Bible is your “go to” for any parenting question.  It, absolutely, lays it out in black and white (and red).  Turn to it.  Lean on Jesus. Learn and then teach others from your mistakes.  We all need to take a moment and stop shaming ourselves and others for their parenting moments.  We are all learning as we go…so calm the heck down, stop judging and go hug a mama (or a daddy).  We are all in this together!

In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.
In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list.  Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents.  Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques.  Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God – grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.
Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children’s hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.  I will be drawing a name on November (gasp…it is almost November) 13 (cause that is my birthday LOL) for a chance to win this book.
