This was the face of a little boy whose mama FINALLY made him some traditional foods.
I had done it in the last…3 years…because I do not like to screw up. I do not like to waste money on food that we throw out. I do not like disappointing people.
So, what do I do?
I have an AWESOME friend who sent me some inspiration in the form of Berbere and Tumeric with a side of crunchy injera chips.
What else did I do?
I took the bull by the horns, got some great recipes from said friend and I did it.
I also invited my friends and their kids. My daughter’s male person…friend…came over.
I thought if I’m going to screw up…I’m going to do it with style.
I worked from about 9:30 this morning until we ate at 6:30.
I had Bug taste test everything (because she is willing). She wanted some spice added to a couple of dishes, but all in all she said they tasted like the Queen of Sheba restaurant!
I also had my friend bring plain rice, fried rice, stuffed onions and stuffed peppers….just in case.
They totally weren’t needed!
Little Man’s favorite was the Doro Wot!
I will certainly be doing more of this in the future. He deserves to remember his traditions from his country.
