I have not fallen off the bandwagon of healthy eating….I just haven’t been doing what I *was* doing.
About 4 years ago, I came down with a nasty cold. That cold turned into bronchitis, which affected my asthma. The bronchitis, untreated, turned into double pneumonia with a double ear infection. That, untreated, moved into pertussis, better known as whooping cough.
I have never been that sick in my entire life. I do not get down or yield to much, but this took me down in a big way. I should’ve been hospitalized, but due to stubbornness and lack of funds, I just stayed home and took the meds my dr prescribed. He wasn’t happy with my chosen plan, but a mom has to do what a mom has to do and I had no one to help me with my kids.
I could hardly breathe.
I coughed day and night.
I didn’t eat.
I only drank orange juice with crushed ice.
I would lay in a scalding tub or stand in the scalding shower to try and open up my chest.
I paced the floor at night.
I could not walk from one room to the other without assistance.
You can read more at http://www.cdc.gov/pertussis/about/signs-symptoms.html
I was down for the count for about 6 mths.
After I was better, I went to get some orange juice to drink…my son started crying hysterically. I asked him what was wrong and he kept screaming “mommy, are you sick again…oh please don’t be sick…please don’t mommy.” He associated me drinking orange juice with my illness. I have not had a drink of OJ since because it freaked him out so much.
All that being said, I have not been the same since. I get bronchitis SUPER easy and it lasts FOREVER. Nothing touches it. It is very irritating.
So, I have been down with this for a couple of weeks. Throw in my double ear infection and you have a girl who has NO appetite. I cook because I’m hungry but once supper is done I eat very little.
Nothing sounds good.
Nothing tastes good.
I have no energy to walk and just making a quick trip to town zaps what little energy I have.
I am down by 3 lbs, though not the healthy way. My inches in my thigh, waist, hips, arm, neck and bust have not gone up, but remained the same, so that is good.
I’m ready to get back into walking again or at least riding the bike, but I have to get well first.
So, lots of water, lots of rest, lots of prayers that this will go away sooner rather than later cause I’m over it.
